Odion Ighalo could be making a return to European football once again when the summer transfer window opens as two European sides have listed the Nigerian as a transfer target.

The 32-year-old last played for a European side when he signed on loan for English Premier League giants, Manchester United from Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua in the 2020/21 season.

Ighalo has since moved to Saudi Arabia after his loan spell and currently plays for Al-Hilal whom he joined from Al Shabab in 2022.

According to Sky Sports, Ighalo has one year left to run on his Al Hilal contract, and the Saudi club has an option to extend for a further year.

The Nigerian striker is now attracting interest from the French Ligue 1 side, AS Monaco, and Spanish La Liga club, Getafe.

Monaco are hoping to use UEFA Champions League football to lure Ighalo to join the Monégasques as they presently lie in the 4th spot in the league which guarantees a spot in Europe’s elite club football competition.

Monaco go provisionally third with Saint-Étienne win

Meanwhile, AS Monaco kept their Champions League dream alive after a convincing victory against Saint-Étienne and saw them move temporarily to 3rd on the Ligue 1 table.

According to Ligue 1, Wissam Ben Yedder, Kevin Volland, and Myron Boadu got the goals for Monaco as they cruised past their opponents 4-1 at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

Monaco now has 59 points from 38 games played and are presently tied on the same points with 3rd place Renne with just 4 games to the end of the season.

Odion Ighalo nets brace for Al Hilal in Champions League

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Al Hilal have qualified for the round of 16 of the AFC Champions League after beating Istiklol 3-0 on Tuesday night, 19 April, in which Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo scored brace.

Odion Ighalo and his teammates at Al Hilal are now the first side to qualify for the Asian Champions League round of 16.

Istiklol players started the Champions League encounter against Al Hilal impressively, but they lost concentration after the first five minutes of the game.
