The Nigeria Football Federation has lost the chance to grab one of the brightest young defenders in World football to play for the Super Eagles.
Udinese defender, Destiny Udogie has finally revealed he will be playing his international career for the Italian national team rather than represent Nigeria.
According to a report via Complete Sports, the youngster disclosed he feels more Italian despite being of born to Nigerian parents.
“I was born in Italy, so I feel more Italian. I grew up playing with the young players in Italy, so I want to continue with Italy.
“Of course, it is my ambition to make it to the senior team. I just have to do my best in every game so I can show him [Roberto Mancini] my qualities and it is a big ambition I hope to be able to reach.”
Destiny Udogie who was born in Italy to Nigerian parents has represented Italy at the youth level and wants to continue wearing the Blue and White of the Azzurri.
Udogie follows the path of Ogbonna and Okaka
The Italian national team are rejoicing at the news that 19-year-old Udinese defender, Destiny Udogie has chosen to play for Italy at senior level.
According to a Soccernet, Udogie is joining the likes of Stephano Chuka Okaka and Angelo Ogbonna who are also of Nigerian descent but chose to represent Italy.
Okaka and Ogbonna were also born in Italy and started their careers in the European nation and decided to continue their senior careers with the Azzurri despite the chance to play for the Super Eagles.

FootballNigeria Football Federation appoints new coaches for youth teams
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Salisu Yusuf has been appointed to lead the Super Eagles B-team for a second time after his appointment was ratified by the Nigeria Football Federation.
The NFF announced a massive shake-up in the national teams across all age grade categories as the football body planned to rebuild all teams for success following a disappointing 2022 that saw the Super Eagles fail to qualify for the World Cup.
The technical committee of the NFF had earlier recommended Salisu Yusuf for the position of head coach of the U-23 national team as well as the CHAN team.
