Alan Shearer has named the 10 greatest African players to have played in the Premier League as he snubbed former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel who excelled at Chelsea.

On the list of the 10 greatest African players in the Premier League, Alan Shearer named the duo of Jay Jay Okocha and Kanu Nwankwo.

Also, former Chelsea defender Celestine Babayaro and Victor Moses were also snubbed by Alan Shearer who is of the opinion that only Okocha and Kanu should be the Nigerians on the list.

According to the report on Soccernet, Alan Shearer explained that he would have ranked Okocha higher, but due to his low goals stat while playing in the Premier League.

Super Eagles to face tough opponents in international friendly as NFF discloses date and venue

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) chiefs confirmed that the Super Eagles will face Mexico national team on 28 May in an international friendly match.

The football ruling body in Nigeria disclosed that the friendly encounter between the Super Eagles and Mexico national team will be played at the AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas.

Although the NFF chiefs have tendered an apology for the country's failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but many Nigerians are still pained that the Super Eagles won't appear in the prestigious tournament.

Coach Eguavoen who was in charge of the Super Eagles forced the Black Stars of Ghana to a goalless draw in the first leg of the play-offs, but played 1-1 in the return fixture in Abuja.
