The 45-year-old took turns to greet and cheer the players one after the other before he had a chit-chat with coach Augustine Eguavoen.

Even as the stars made way unto the pitch, Kanu monitored the proceedings and later sat beside Samuel Chukwueze who seemed to be injured.

Samuel Chukwueze doubtful

Meanwhile, Samuel Chukwueze is nursing a slight groin injury and was forced to sit out of the Super Eagles training in Abuja on Sunday, 27 March, ahead of the return leg against Ghana.

In the press conference monitored by Sports Brief, Eguavoen hinted that Chukwueze is doubtful for the encounter.

“Chukwueze had a scan, the result hasn’t come, while Innocent Bonke didn’t participate in this (Monday) evening's training because he had a knock"

Cukwueze started for the Super Eagles in Kumasi against Ghana, but the winger was unable to shine against the Black Stars before he was substituted in the second half.

Super Eagles assistant coach Emmanuel Amuneke explained that Samuel Chukwueze's injury is not a serious one adding that he was asked to sit out of training as a precaution.

Otto Addo praises underfire Jordan Ayew

Sports Brief earlier reported that Interim manager of the Black Stars Otto Addo has heaped praise on underfire forward Jordan Ayew ahead of Ghana's crunch tie against Nigeria.

Jordan came under scrutiny in the first instalment of the World Cup play-offs between Ghana and their Nigerian counterparts staged at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last Friday.

The Crystal Palace man was booed by the home crowd when he was subbed off by coach Otto Addo in the dying embers of the game.
