Interim manager of the Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen has declared his outfit are not in the mood of showing mercy ahead of the first leg of the World Cup play-offs.

Eguavoen's charges will lock horns against the Black Stars of Ghana at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday, March 25 for the first instalment of the play-offs.

Augustine Eguavoen, who doubles as the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, has faced Ghana on two occasions as a head coach, winning one (1-0 in 2006) and losing the other (1-4 in 2007).

He will be looking forward to bridging the gap in the head-to-head meetings between Ghana and Nigeria.

Speaking at the press conference ahead of tomorrow's epic clash, the 56-year-old retired Nigerian defender stated categorically he is in Ghana to pick up a win.

“Our mission here is to win. No other result on our minds.” He told pressmen at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Ghana host Nigeria on Friday night at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi and the reverse fixture is billed to hold at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday.

The Nigeria contingent departed from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja aboard a chartered Air Peace aircraft on Thursday morning.

Augustine Eguavoen likens his coaching philosophy to former Barcelona coach

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Caretaker coach of the Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen has shed light on his coaching style ahead of the impending World Cup play-offs between Ghana and Nigeria.

Eguavoen, who is the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, will lead the Super Eagles for the all-important doubleheader as interim coach.

The 56-year-old tactician who is in his third stint as Nigeria boss earlier led his country to the 2021 AFCON, where the Super Eagles dazzled at the group stages with some eye-pleasing football but failed to travel far in the competition.
