Super Eagles number one goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has been left unimpressed after he was forced to pull out of Nigeria vs Ghana play-offs, Complete Sports reports.
Okoye has been ruled out of the Super Eagles' World Cup double-header play-offs against the Black Stars after he tested positive for COVID-19 as he has been replaced with John Noble.
Enyimba goalkeeper John Noble has landed at the camp of the three-time African champions despite suffering an injury in the last game against Wikki Tourists and has joined the squad to Kumasi.
Sparta Rotterdam star Okoye stated that he was scheduled to fly to Nigeria to join his teammates in camp before he tested positive.
He lamented that it was an unfortunate situation that he would not be part of the squad, but sends his best wishes ahead of the first leg in Kumasi.
Okoye told Ojbsports:
“I was tested positive a day before my flight and I did a second test also positive.
“It’s unfortunate but I just want to send my love to the people and to the team and best of luck for this big clash.
“I’m very sad to miss this big game but I’m sure the team will do the job and we’ll meet again in Qatar. So best of luck Nigeria and may God bring us victory.”
Super Eagles land in Kumasi
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived in Ghana ahead of their first leg World Cup play-off with the Black Stars of Ghana.
The Nigeria contingent departed from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja aboard a chartered Air Peace aircraft on Thursday morning.

The legendary Ghanaian attacker will is not a part in that team after being inactive for over a year, but will be supporting the Black Stars as they seek to qualify for the World Cup.
In an interview with Tv3, the 36-year-old spoke about his unbeaten record against Nigeria and believes the Black Stars can extend that run.
