Alex Iwobi was the hero for Everton on Thursday night, 17 March, as the Super Eagles forward scored the goal that gave his side a 1-0 win over Newcastle United in a Premier League tie.

The Premier League encounter was a tough one for Everton players who would also have themselves to blame for losing some chances in the first half, which could have turned into goals for them.

Playing in front of their faithfuls, Everton stars started the match impressively and were looking for an early goal against Newcastle United, which they failed to get at Goodison Park.

When did Alex Iwobi score for Everton?

According to what Everton posted on their Twitter page, Alex Iwobi scored the winner for his club in the 90+9 of the encounter sending all the home fans into wide jubilation.

Before the Nigerian scored for Everton, they were down to 10 men in the 83rd minute as Allan was sent off after a dangerous tackle on Saint-Maximin.

Despite the win, Everton are still in a dangerous 17th position on the Premier League table with 25 points after 27 games and they will have to do well in subsequent games as to escape relegation.

Chinedu Obasi prays Nigeria comes good in World Cup showdown against Ghana

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how former Nigeria international Chinedu Obasi called out the Super Eagles to rise to the occasion when it matters the most ahead of the all-important World Cup play-offs.

Nigeria and their eternal enemies Ghana will trade tackles for the umpteenth time, this time around for a slot at the 2022 World Cup.

With the Black Stars failing to shine at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations coupled with a makeshift technical team, many argue the latest battle of the two West African giants might just swing in favour of Nigeria.

But sharing his opinion ahead of the game, Chindedu Obasi contends occasionally his nation fails to come clutch in such tough encounters but hopes this time around Augustine Eguavoen's charges will come good.
