Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has stated he aims to win the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria as the West African nation prepares for its final group game against Guinea-Bissau on Wednesday, January 19 according to a report via Pulse Sports.

The former Under-17 starlet was part of the 2019 squad that won bronze for Nigeria in the competition after seeing their title ambitions ended abruptly in the semis by a late Riyahd Mahrez freekick to send Algeria to the final ahead of the Super Eagles.

Basking from scoring his first goal for Nigeria in the 2021 edition currently ongoing in Cameroon, the Super Eagles left-footed winger has now stated that he aims to win the ultimate prize and come home with the trophy with Nigeria.

“I need to do everything possible for them to win the trophy.
“I have won a trophy for my club, so I want to win a trophy for my country, also so that they will remember me.”

Samuel Chukwueze was part of the victorious Golden Eaglets that won the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in 2015 alongside Kelechi Nwakali and Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian was also part of the Villareal team that defeated Manchester United in the Europa League final to claim his first major silverware with his current Spanish club.

The Super Eagles have already secured their spot in the Round of 16 after two consecutive victories that placed them top of Group D with 6 points and will tackle Guinea-Bissau in their final game of the group phase.

Earlier Sportsbrief reported Augustine Eguavoen who is the interim handler of the Super Eagles has sounded it clear that he will not reject the offer of landing coaching the national team on a permanent basis.

The former international is currently having a smooth run in charge of the Super Eagles at the ongoing African Cup of Nations where he has won his first two games.
