Ghana's 2014 World Cup squad member, Abdul Majeed Waris, has landed a club in the summer transfer window after sealing a move to Anorthosis Famagusta in Cyprus.

The speedster signed a two-year deal to join the club after leaving French Ligue 1 outfit Racing Strasbourg.

Anorthosis Famagusta announced the arrival of the Ghanaian on their official website as he begins his career in Cyprus.

"Anorthosis Famagusta announces the signing of a contract with footballer Abdul Majeed Waris. The agreement lasts until the summer of 2024. We welcome the footballer to our team and wish him every success with the "Phoenix" on his chest," wrote the club.

Majeed Waris has spent most of his career in France, having played for Lorient, Valenciennes, FC Nantes and Strasbourg.

His move to Cyprus is expected to give him a chance of making a return to the senior national team.

Majeed Waris played for the Black Stars at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Majeed Waris scores for Strasbourg in France

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Abdul Majeed Waris scored for the second consecutive game in the French Ligue 1 as Strasbourg lost narrowly to Girondins Bordeaux on Sunday, January 23, 2022.

The 30-year-old attacker scored in injury time but it was not enough as Strasbourg suffered a 4-3 defeat at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux.

In a video posted on Twitter, the striker met a cross from the left to pull net his side's third of the seven-goal thriller match.

Majeed Waris receives honorary degree from UK University

Ghana and Strasbourg forward, Abdul Majeed Waris, has received an honorary degree from the Hartpury College in the United Kingdom.

The French-based forward was awarded the degree for his role in sports and his ability to combine education and football.

In photos posted on Twitter by the football, he expressed delight in his latest achievement and thanked the Right to Dream Academy for giving him the opportunity.
