Ghana and Strasbourg defender Alexander Djiku has been adjudged as the Player of the Month for his club in the month under review.

Djiku capped off a memorable month with the best possible individual award after helping the Black Stars qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and becoming the most capped Ghanaian player in the French Ligue 1.

The 27-year-old French-born defender played all three games in the month of March for Strasbourg, helping Le Racing to two draws and a victory, where he scored a spectacular overhead kick in the win over Monaco.

In a post on Twitter, spotted by Sports Brief, Djiku was given the award prior to his side's Ligue 1 game against Olympique Lyon.

In the said encounter, he played full throttle as Strasbourg threw away an early lead to split points with Lyon in a frustrating afternoon for Djiku and his teammates.

The Blue and Whites are four points adrift of Champions League positions with seven games left in the season.

Djiku will hope his latest individual feat will spur him on as Strasbourg chase for Champions League places.
