Stellenbosch FC have gone international as they look to beef up their squad.

Steve Barker’s side have brought in a former Germany under 21 international to the club on a free transfer.

As reported by iDiski Times, Lasse Sobiech joined the side as a free agent after leaving Darmstadt 98 in Germany.

Darmstadt 98 currently play their football in the Bundesliga 2. The defender stands at 1.96 metres tall and has had an extensive career in Germany, including stints at Bundesliga outfits.

He has previously played for FC Köln, HSV Hamburg, St Pauli and Borussia Dortmund over the years, TransferMarkt confirmed.

Sobiech will help fill the defensive gap left by Zitha Kwinika’s departure to Kaizer Chiefs.

Stellies will be hoping the German, and their other new signings can help build on an impressive 2021/22 season.

Stellies finished fourth in the DStv Premiership and narrowly missed out on securing a place in the CAF Confederation Cup.
