Earlier today the Stellies Reserves were crowned the DStv Diski Challenge champions and the main side followed it up with a win over Mamelodi Sundowns.

Stellies took the lead in the sixth minute thanks to the ever-impressive Ashley du Preez. Du Preez beat the offside trap and controlled the ball nicely from a long ball, beating an onrushing Ricardo Goss.

Goss then was to blame for Stellies scoring the second as he came out off his line to clear a ball but ended up finding the Stellies attackers.

The ball was fed to Jayden Adams who brilliantly chipped Goss to give his side a two-goal advantage over the champions.

Du Preez then rounded off the scoring in the 57th minute as he scored his second of the game.

Masandawana had their fair share of chances to score but lacked the intensity they are known for. The game was their last fixture at home and the Brazilians will be hoping for a better showing against Royal AM in their final game.

Stellenbosch FC are now in fifth place, just three two points behind Royal AM and Kaizer Chiefs.

Stellenbosch FC are the new 2021/22 DStv Diski Challenge champions. The Western Province side wrapped up the title on the final day of the league with a win over TS Galaxy, Sports Brief earlier reported.
