Kamaldeen Sulemana has finally made his English Premier League debut after coming on in the second half of Southampton's clash against Brentford.

Sulemana joined the Saints on transfer deadline day from Stade Rennais and was immediately handed his first appearance by manager Nathan Jones.

The Right to Dream Academy graduate replaced Ibrahima Diallo in the 46th minute with the St Mary's outfit trailing 2-0.

Southampton ended the game losing 3-0, but Sulemana showed glimpses of the quality he will be adding to the team.

Two quick-fire goals in the final five minutes of the first half saw the hosts race into a 2-0 lead. Ben Mee and Bryan Mbuemo gave Brentford the advantage before the break.

Mathias Jensen sealed victory with ten minutes remaining as Southampton stayed rooted bottom of the table.

Sulemana's compatriot Mohammed Salisu played full throttle for Southampton.

Before joining Southampton, Sulemana made 47 appearances for Stade Rennais, scoring six goals for the Red and Blacks.

The talented winger is expected to help the Saints survive the drop this season.

Rennais manager unhappy with Sulemana's move

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Stade Rennais manager, Bruno Genesio is unhappy with how Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana forced a move to Southampton in England.

The 20-year-old joined the Saints from the Ligue 1 side on a four-and-a-half year deal on transfer deadline day.

Although Rennais wanted to keep the talented winger, Sulemana was desperate to leave.

Kamaldeen Sulemana joins Southampton

Ghana winger, Kamaldeen Sulemana has completed his move to English Premier League side Southampton in the winter transfer window.

The 20-year-old forward signed a four-and-a-half-year deal to join the Saints from French club, Stade Rennais on transfer deadline day.

Southampton announce the signing of the player on their official website after wrapping up the deal on January 31, 2023.
