Former Southampton Star Robbed of Thousands of US Dollars in Elaborate Scheme

Former Southampton player Emmanuel Mayuka has become the victim of a crime.

The Zambian international was fleeced of K90 000 (nearly US$5 000) that he tried to send home while away in Egypt.

According to Zambian Sports, a bank teller and an accountant conspired to withdraw Mayuka's money without his permission and knowledge. It was reported that the 32-year-old was alerted to this suspicious activity by the unnamed bank's manager Simon Kasempe.

"The star later narrated that while he was unaware of this activity, his personal manager contacted him to inquire about his bank’s transaction record, to his surprise he learned that someone was withdrawing the money in question."

The miscreants in question Evans Kabaso (30), and Kangwa Makumba (51) were later arrested, with the matter turned over to the Anticorruption Commission (ACC), though what charges they will face remains to be seen.
