  • Ralph Hasenhuttl believes that winning the English Premier League is harder than winning the Champions League as the former requires a high level of consistency
  • Southampton face Liverpool tonight in what could be a title-deciding game. Liverpool need maximum points to push the race to the final day
  • The Saints under Ralph have only won once in six attempts against Jurgen Klopp and will be up for a feisty encounter at the St. Mary’s stadium

Southampton head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl has sensationally claimed that the English Premier League is harder to win than the UEFA Champions League. Southampton host a Liverpool side who are chasing both trophies on Tuesday night.

Ralph knows that his side will have a big say as far as the Premier League race is concerned. Liverpool are hoping to move to within a point of Manchester City with victory at St. Mary’s Park.

The Jurgen Klopp side is still hopeful of bagging the historic quadruple this season. They will however require Manchester City to slip up in their final match against Aston Villa. They then face Real Madrid in the Champions League final on May 28th.

Now Ralph, an experienced coach, says that maintaining consistency in the Premier League is harder as compared to the Champions League. Speaking ahead of the crucial encounter and as quoted by Sportbible, Ralph said

This is still the title that’s most countable for everybody because it’s the hardest to get. For me it’s even harder to be over 38 games in the Premier League consistently on the top, than to win the Champions League sometimes.

The Austrian manager also heaped praise on Jurgen Klopp. He has only won once in six meetings with Klopp.

We all know how strong Jurgen is and how focused he is. They won’t have given up on their chance to win the league, that’s for sure. Even if it’s tough for him to go for all four, I know he will do everything to win the game and give themselves a chance on the last day.

If Liverpool fail to win tonight, City will clinch their eighth top-flight title. The reverse fixture at Anfield in November ended 4-0 in Liverpool’s favour.

Salah expresses confidence he will be fit for the Champions League final

At the same time, Mohamed Salah has moved in to dispel fears that he won't be fit for the Champions League final.

Sports Brief reported that Salah was taken off in the first half of the FA Cup final against Chelsea with a groin problem.

The Egyptian is however expected to be ready and fit for the Real Madrid showdown in Paris which is slated for May 28th
