Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu is injured at Southampton and had to forfeit their game against West Ham in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday evening.

According to the club's head coach, Ralph Hasenhuttl, Salisu suffered a hamstring injury and missed out on their 3-1 victory over the Hammers at the Saint Mary's Stadium.

"We have problems with Sali [Mohammed Salisu] with his hamstring and Moi [Elyounoussi] with his heel," Hasenhuttl addressed the injury situation in today's press conference.

Salisu's return is not clear yet but the club is confident that the towering centre-back will not be on the sidelines for a long period.

The 22-year-old is however expected to recover in time to play a big role in the World Cup playoff as Ghana will host their perennial rivals Nigeria on March 25 in Cape Coast before heading to Abuja four days later for the return fixture.

The defender has also made 57 tackles and he is ranked 7th on the chat of players with the most tackles.
