  • Jose Mourinho turned 60 on January 26 and was celebrated by his team
  • The manager was called to give a speech but opted instead for training
  • Roma’s next fixture is a tricky game versus Serie A league leaders Napoli

Jose Mourinho was treated to a delightful rendition of Happy Birthday from his Roma players as he turned 60 on Thursday, January 26.

A video shared on Roma’s official social media handles shows ‘The Special One’ being serenaded by his players, as he prepares to cut a yummy-looking cake.

Mourinho was filmed entering the dressing room filled with excited players and backroom staff, but the manager did not seem to necessarily want a huge birthday hype, as he appeared somewhat irritated by all the attention.

He then made his way to the centre of the dressing room to blow out the candles, before waving in appreciation to the people who had gathered to celebrate him.

During the video footage, Mourinho glanced at his watch and quickly said, "Andiamo," which can be translated as 'Let’s go'. He clearly was not feeling the awkwardness.

Mourinho is a good sport

Despite not being a fan of the centre of attention on his big day, Mourinho was a good sport and stuck around to cut his cake, before giving a slice to Roma captain, Lorenzo Pelligrini.

Players then urged him to make a speech, but the Portugal international was having none of it as he issued a rejoinder translated as: "What speech? Let’s go to work, we have a game on Sunday, come on."

It is just as well that Mourinho has laser focus on Sunday’s game, which is against league leaders, Napoli.

Roma could face the Naples outfit without the services of Nicolò Zaniolo, who has reportedly been heavily linked with a move to AC Milan.

Mourinho’s laundry basket story

Sports Brief also reported on the hilarious tale on Mourinho and a laundry basket from back in 2005.

At the time, the coach was serving a ban ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.

In a bid to not get caught, Mourinho snuck into the team’s dressing room and had to leave in a laundry basket.
