Jose Mourinho has enjoyed unrivalled success across different leagues and clubs. He first burst into the scene in the 2003-2004 season when he led Porto to a Champions League triumph against all odds.

One common factor has always been his insistence on using African strikers of strikers with African descent. From Didier Drogba to Samuel Eto'o, Mourinho has worked with some of the best.

As New Telegraph reports, it is not a coincidence that the Portuguese tactician works with African strikers. Mourinho has explained that he always believes that without African strikers, he cannot win.

He started with South African legend Benni McCarthy at Porto. McCarthy scored important goals as Porto completed an unprecedented double. He then moved to Chelsea, where he oversaw the arrival of Didier Drogba.

Drogba became the focal point of Chelsea's attack leading the Blues to the Premier League title, Chelsea's first in over 50 years. Mourinho has revealed that he wanted to partner Drogba and McCarthy up front.

" I wanted Benni Mccarthy to join me to partner Didier Drogba up front but at that time He was at Blackburn Rovers and He was the only hit man there."

Winning Inter Milan treble with Samuel Eto'o

He afterwards worked with Samuel Etoó at Inter Milan, whom he has described as the best signing of his career. Mourinho won the treble with Inter Milan in 2010.

The acclaimed manager has also said that his failure to get an African striker at Real Madrid is the reason he did not win a Champions League title at the club.

He is currently working with Tammy Abraham at AS Roma, who has Nigerian roots.

Mourinho tears into AS Roma player after frustrating draw

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Jose Mourinho did not hold back in his criticism of one specific player during his post-match interview after Roma endured a frustrating 1-1 draw against Sassuolo on Wednesday, November 9.

Roma looked to be on course for victory after Tammy Abraham scored his first Serie A goal since September with a brilliant header in the 80th minute.

However, it was Sassuolo who had the last laugh as Andrea Pinamonti scored five minutes later from a swift counterattack for the game to end in a 1-1 draw.
