Speaking in his post-match conference, Mourinho refused to blame referee Fabio Maresca for the poor result, insisting that his side lost deservedly.

The Portuguese tactician further took some time to apologise to the fans as he admitted Roma's lacklustre performance must have been 'ugly' to watch for the supporters.

"It was a difficult match. It was a match you could not risk going down, to begin with because they defend well," Mourinho told DAZN via The Mirror.
"This was ugly, both for us and the fans. But it's life, and we move on," he added.

Roma are now placed fifth on the log with 10 points, just one behind leaders Napoli.

Video of Mourinho walking Tammy Abraham off during a Serie A game emerges

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that there was a delightful moment on Tuesday, August 30, during the AS Roma vs Monza game as Jose Mourinho walked off Tammy Abraham after substituting the England striker.

Roma only acquired Abraham last summer from Chelsea in a deal worth £34 million, which at the time, looked like a bit too much for a player who had slipped down the pecking order at Chelsea.

But under Mourinho, Tamy Abraham has reinvented himself and turned into a key player for the Italian side early on in the 2022/23 campaign.
