Nemanja Matic has made an interesting admission on why he decided to join AS Roma from Manchester United.

The Serbian walked away from Old Trafford as a free agent after his contract with the Red Devils ran out.

He would go on to join Roma on a free transfer in what is now a third different instance he is uniting with Jose Mourinho.

Having signed a one-year deal at the Stadio Olimpico, Matic was the first to admit that he could not pass out the chance to work with Mourinho once again.

"We know each other very well. I am very happy to be here with him again and he was one of the reasons why I chose Roma.” He told reporters as quoted on Manchester Evening News.
"Roma, as a club, is attractive to players and also to me, and I am very happy to be part of this big club. Only Frank Lampard has more games with Jose than me and I will try to break his record."

Matic spent eight and a half years in the Premier League, initially playing for Chelsea before moving to United in 2017.

According to the Serbian, he decided he wanted a new challenge after Manchester United and Roma looked like an ‘attractive’ deal.
