Rinsola Babajide and Shukurat Oladipo Help AS Roma Women Claim 2025/26 Serie A Femminile Title

Two Nigerian internationals have etched their names into Italian football history after AS Roma Women clinched the 2025/26 Serie A Femminile Scudetto with two games to spare. Super Falcons forwards Rinsola Babajide and defender Shukurat Oladipo both played notable roles in Roma's title-winning campaign.

AS Roma Women are Serie A Femminile champions for the third time in the club’s history, securing the 2025/26 Scudetto with a 2-0 win over Ternana Women at the Stadio Tre Fontane on 2 May 2026. Midfielder Manuela Giugliano was the match-winner, netting both goals to seal the title with two rounds of fixtures still remaining.

The victory pushed Roma’s points tally to 49, placing them out of reach of Inter Milan Women, who are level on points but trail the Giallorosse on head-to-head record. Roma’s title run was built on a 15-game unbeaten sequence that effectively ended the title race well ahead of the final whistle of the season. AS Roma Femminile confirmed the title via their official X account, posting: “For the third time in our history we are Champions of Italy.”

Among those celebrating the triumph are two Super Falcons internationals whose contributions proved significant across the campaign. Rinsola Babajide, who joined Roma from UD Tenerife in July 2025, wasted no time making her mark in Italian football, scoring on her Serie A Femminile debut. The forward finished the season with two goals and one assist, despite not always being named in the starting XI.

Reacting to the title success on social media, Babajide wrote: “That Champions of Italy selfie, proud moment for me and the team.” Her integration into one of Europe’s top women’s club setups represents a significant step in a career that has seen her represent Nigeria at international level with the Super Falcons.

At the back, Shukurat Oladipo delivered what the source describes as one of Roma’s standout individual performances across the entire campaign — a notable achievement given it was her first season in European club football. The young defender made the move to Roma from FC Robo Queens earlier in 2025 and quickly established herself as a regular starter in the Giallorosse backline. Over the course of the league season, Oladipo featured in 16 matches and accumulated more than 1,200 minutes of playing time.

The achievement carries broader significance for Nigerian women’s football. Both Babajide and Oladipo are part of a growing generation of Super Falcons players competing at the highest levels of European club football, a trend that reflects increased visibility for women’s football on the continent. Nigeria’s Super Falcons have historically been the dominant force in African women’s football, having won the Africa Women Cup of Nations a record eleven times, though their recent continental form has faced scrutiny amid administrative challenges.

Roma’s title triumph also comes at a pivotal moment for Italian women’s football, with the Serie A Femminile continuing to attract international talent and raise its profile across Europe. For Roma, this is their third league title, underlining the club’s growing stature in the women’s game. With the UEFA Women’s Champions League remaining a key target for leading Italian clubs, Roma’s squad depth — which now includes established international players like Babajide and Oladipo — positions them as credible contenders heading into the next campaign.
