FootballReal Madrid Reportedly Pull Plug on Kylian Mbappe Deal as PSG Ignore 2nd Bid
- Real Madrid are now likely to pull out of a move for Kylian Mbappe, at least for this transfer window
- PSG are yet to respond to the latest €180m bid from Real Madrid
- Mbappe has 10 months remaining on his current PSG deal and is now planning to sign a pre-contract agreement with Real in January
The saga involving French star Kyian Mbappe has taken a fresh twist as Real Madrid have reportedly pulled the plug on their pursuit of the PSG star.
Los Blancos have grown increasingly frustrated by PSG’s stubbornness on selling Mbappe, who has only 10 months remaining on his current contract.
Real Madrid, according to Sky Sport, made a second improved bid of £145.8m (€170m) plus £8.57m (€10m) in add-ons and set a deadline for PSG’s response time.
By Monday, August 30, there was no response from the French club and Real ultimately decided to shelve their plans to sign Mbappe, at least for now.
It is now highly likely PSG are going to have to wait until January in order to sign Mbappe, who has made it clear he wants to join the Spanish giants.
Ahead of the international break, Mbappe was present at France's Clairefontaine headquarters as France prepare to face the likes of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine and Finland in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Mbappe has featured three times for PSG in the league and has been instrumental in his team’s three victories.
In the latest game against Reims on Sunday, August 29, Mbappe scored twice in the 2-0 win to ensure Mauricio Pochettino’s side maintained a 100% record in the league so far.
“Mbappe can leave, but on our terms”
Last week, PSG sporting director Leonardo spoke honestly about the Mbappe situation where he conceded the possibility of the 22-year old leaving the club.

“Mbappe would like to leave, this seems clear to me. If Real Madrid makes an offer, this seems clear to me. Me, I give a position, which I think is clear for everyone. Leonardo told RMC.
“We cannot change our plans in the final week of the window. If he is set on leaving, we will not hold him back, but it will be our terms.”
