Pablo Maffeo wanted to receive a standing ovation for fouling Vinicius Junior, Real Mallorca manager Javier Aguirre revealed.

Maffeo, aside from his unwarranted antics against the Real Madrid winger, was assured in defence, helping his side to a shock 1-0 win over the Spanish giants.

Despite his performance on the day, the 25-year-old defender wanted to be subbed off in order to receive a standing ovation for doing a number on Vinicius, who has become public enemy No.1 among opposing defenders and fans.

Speaking after the game, the head coach of Mallorca Aguirre disclosed the intentions of one of his defenders.
