Meanwhile, Gattuso has stated that he loves and respects Ancelotti, and has played down any talk of a rift with the Real Madrid manager, Goal reports.

Since going into management after retiring from active football, the Valencia boss has had clashes with his former boss, but insisted it has always been 'a work problem' and nothing else.

Ancelotti blasts referees after penalty

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Ancelotti being displeased with officials after the decision to award two penalties, in Real Madrid's surprise 2-1 defeat to Villareal on Saturday, January 7.

Los Blancos suffered their second loss of the season following the loss to the Yellow Submarines at the Estadio de la Ceramica, but the Madrid boss was more concerned with the penalties given.

Centre referee, Cesar Soto Grado made two big calls after he awarded both sides a penalty each for handball in the box, and Ancelotti believes both calls did not have strong merit.
