Real Madrid legend Marcelo Vieira is set to leave Greek giants Olympiacos after just two months due to fitness concerns, it has emerged.

The former Brazil left-back joined the Piraeus-based side in September following a trophy-laden, 15-year spell at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 34-year-old made his debut for the 47-time Greece champions in their 3-0 loss against Qarabag in the UEFA Europe League.

But reports suggest the five-time Champions League winner is set to cut his stint in Greece short as Olympiacos is frustrated at his on-field performance and fitness issues.

Per FootMercato, as cited by BeFootball, the Thrylos are unhappy with Marcelo's inability to play more than 30 minutes per game.

The legendary full-back has featured only five times in all competitions for his new team, with all his appearances coming from the bench.

The report further claims that Olympiakos are also displeased with his failure to raise his fitness levels, having played just 121 minutes of football.

Olympiacos manager Michel is now ready to part ways with Marcelo as soon as possible, who is considered surplus to requirements.

Michel, who is also a Real Madrid legend having played for the Santiago Bernabeu outfit for 14 years, between 1982 and 1996, won't be including Marcelo in his plans for the second half of the season.

Olympiacos currently lie in fourth position in the Greek Super league table, 12 points behind arch-nemesis and league frontrunners Panathinaikos.

A legendary Los Blancos career

There’s no question that Marcelo is a club legend at Madrid. As noted by Transfermarkt, he played 546 games for the side. As a defender, he scored 38 goals and notched up 103 assists.

He went on to win five UEFA Champions League titles, six La Liga titles, and two Spanish cups among the numerous trophies he won at the club.

A new start in Greece

After his legendary career ended in Spain, Marcelo found a new home in Greece. The Brazilian joined Olympiacos and was given a hero's welcome by the club’s fan base when he was presented to them.

Marcelo receives awesome welcome to new club

Sports Brief earlier reported that Marcelo Oliviera has been officially unveiled to Olympiacos fans at the Georgios Karaiskakis stadium in front of 20,00 fans on Monday, September 9.

The former Real Madrid captain was wearing the same number 12 he wore at the Santiago Bernabeu for the past 16 years on his back.

As the 34-year-old made his way onto the field, the charged fans at the stadium chanted his name and lit flares to welcome their new star.
