  • Carlo Ancelotti expressed displeasure with the team's strategy after Real Madrid's shocking 3-2 loss to Rayo Vallecano on Monday night
  • Rayo defeated the defending La Liga champions in one of the most shocking results this campaign, coming back from behind after gaining the lead at first
  • Losing ends Real Madrid's La Liga season-long unbeaten streak and more importantly, it keeps them in second place overall behind Barcelona

Carlo Ancelotti is not a happy manager after witnessing his Real Madrid team lose for the first time in La Liga this season, following their shock 3-2 defeat to Rayo Vallecano.

Oscar Trejo’s 70th winner ensured Rayo left with all 3 points against the La Liga champions, despite Luka Modric and Eder Militao’s efforts at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas.

Ancelotti has now slammed his team’s strategy after the game, revealing that his Real Madrid players lacked determination all through the encounter, Goal reports.

"We lacked determination of the rival, lost individual duels, and could not get our play going. We have played too many games, same as most teams. We’re not as fresh as we were; we lacked legs today."

Real Madrid has now lost the top spot on the La Liga table to Barcelona, with Los Blancos now two points behind Xavi’s men in the standings.

Ancelotti frustrated with missed chances

Asides from Real Madrid’s lacklustre display against Rayo Vallecano, Ancelotti is also not happy with Los Blancos’ many missed scoring opportunities, Football Espana reports.

Ancelotti called out Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior, who missed two good opportunities to have wrapped up the game for the La Liga champions but instead flopped his lines.

After facing Cadiz, the majority of Ancelotti’s squad will head off to join up with their national teams in Qatar, before the World Cup kick-off on November 20.

Madrid fans demand new striker

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on some fans of reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid fuming at Brazilian forward Rodrygo, following his abysmal display in their 3-2 defeat at Rayo Vallecano.

The 21-year-old lacked the clinical instinct in his game on Monday night, missing a number of great opportunities to win the game for Los Blancos.

The worst was reserved for the last, as the youngster missed a glorious chance in the dying embers of the game to restore parity for Real Madrid.
