In a video posted on Twitter, spotted by Sports Brief, the 24-year-old in-form midfielder watched on as his shot exits the Estadio de Vallecas and ends up on the second-floor balcony of a crowded neighbouring flat.

Valverde's effort was greeted with cheers from the home fans watching from the stadium.

It was difficult for ballboys inside the stadium to retrieve the ball, after three men in the apartment raised the ball into the air to the delight of fans, before appearing to stow it in their flat.

How Rayo defeated Real Madrid

Rayo Vallecano were victorious on Monday night as Real Madrid suffered their first La Liga defeat, Sports Brief has reported.

The home side opened the scoring early in the game in a see-saw encounter before Carlo Ancelotti's men went 2-1 ahead through Luka Modric and Eder Militao.

However, Rayo got the equaliser again just before half-time, before getting the match-winning goal from the spot courtesy of Oscar Trejo in the 67th minute.

Barcelona are on top of the La Liga table after 13 matches. The Catalans have 34 points whiles Real Madrid are second on 32 points.

Valverde scores season goal contender

Sports Brief earlier reported that Real Madrid star Federico Valverdve scored a cracking individual goal against Sevilla on Saturday night in La Liga.

Veteran midfielder Luka Modric scored the opening goal in the 5th minute, only for Erik Lamela to notch the equaliser 10 minutes after half-time.

Los Blancos were in front once again however, thanks to substitute Lucas Vazquez in the 79th minute.
