  • Eden Hazard could be making his way back to the English Premier League if Aston Villa go through with a deal to sign him
  • New boss Unai Emery is said to be interested in the Chelsea legend, who has had tumultuous times at Real Madrid
  • His current contract is set to expire in 2024, but he could be available at an extremely low price given his dwindling fortunes

New Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has reportedly hit the ground running in identifying the players he would want to recruit for his project in Birmingham.

Emery was appointed following the sacking of Steven Gerrard, and has since taken over the training sessions ahead of his first game against Manchester United.

The serial Europa League winner has identified Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard as a prime target. Hazard's career has failed to take off in the Spanish capital.

He has often been hampered by fitness issues. When fit, head coach Carlo Ancelotti has always preferred the young duo Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo de Goes.

Unai Emery wants Eden Hazard

Football 365 reports that Emery has given a go-ahead for his new club to pursue Hazard's signature. Real Madrid are said to be willing to let the Chelsea legend leave.

Hazard enjoyed a stellar seven-year campaign in England, winning two Premier League titles with Chelsea. He left the Premier League having been one of the best players in the division.

Villa also made permanent the signing of Phillipe Coutinho, who similarly struggled at Barcelona after a big-money move from Liverpool. The owners have European ambitions and are ready to splash cash on top-priority targets.

Ancelotti and Hazard not on talking terms

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Eden Hazard and Carlo Ancelotti are definitely in different lanes this season at Real Madrid, after a turbulent start to the season for the Belgian winger.

The 31-year-old has been relegated to the bench by Ancelotti following his struggles with injuries and poor form this season, and that has not gone down well with Hazard.

Hazard is now reportedly not on talking terms with Ancelotti, after being displaced from Real Madrid’s first team by the Italian manager.
