Real Madrid faces a defining month in their quest to defend their La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles, with the Spanish giants set to play 9 matches in October.

Los Blancos dropped points for the first time this season after they were held by Osasuna to a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu with Karim Benzema missing a late penalty.

Real Madrid still has 8 more difficult fixtures to go in the month of October, with the biggest tie against arch-rival Barcelona in El Clasico scheduled for October 16, AS reports.

The Spanish giants are set to face Shakhtar Donetsk in a double-header and are also set to tackle RB Leipzig in the Champions League - all in October.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team will also square up against Getafe, Elche, Sevilla and Girona in their October La Liga fixtures.

Real Madrid handed major Thibaut Courtois an injury problem

Meanwhile, Real Madrid could be set to miss number one choice goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois for El Clasico after the Belgian goalie picked up an injury.

According to Fansided, it appears that Courtois is suffering from a nerve problem in his lower back, which has prevented him from playing at this point in time.

Courtois is expected to miss a month of action for Carlo Ancelotti’s team, which means the Belgian goalkeeper will not be in goal when Real Madrid tackles Barcelona on October 16.

Real Madrid holds a minute’s silence before the Osasuna fixture

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Real Madrid has honoured the victims who lost their lives in the tragic stadium disaster in Indonesia.

The Spanish club observed a minute of silence before their La Liga fixture against Osasuna.

The tragedy shocked the sporting world, as at least 125 were killed and over 300 were injured. The chaos ensued when fans invaded the pitch, leading police to fire tear gas to try and disperse them.
