Doctors have diagnosed Benzema with having bursitis in his knee. As noted by MayoClinic, Bursitis is a painful condition that causes inflammation of fluid-filled sacs called Bursae.

Treatment involves resting the affected area and preventing it from further damage. In most cases, the pain goes away within a few weeks.

Madrid are considering leaving Benzema out of the team for a longer period of time as they seek to have him ready for El Clasico.

Real will host Barcelona in the first El Clasico of the season on October 16. France will also hope that Benzema is fit before the November World Cup.

Madrid have not missed the striker's presence up front since his injury and remain unbeaten in the Champions League and La Liga this far.
