Gonzalo Higuain was filmed sharing a heartwarming moment with his former Argentina teammates.

Higuain, who currently plays for Major League Soccer outfit Inter Miami, represented Argentina at the senior national team level between 2009 and 2018.

Despite calling time on his international career, the former Real Madrid striker took time off his busy schedule to link up with his ex-teammates at the national team level.

In a video posted on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, Higuain has filmed hugging and sharing a hearty moment with Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria and members of the Argentina team on international duty.

Moving away from mainstream Europe has not hampered Higuain's goal-scoring abilities with the 34-year-old centre-forward bagging an impressive 13 goals in 27 games for Inter Miami across all competitions.

Higuain brags about outscoring Ronaldo in his first season at Real Madrid

Gonzalo Higuain opened up about his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo when both players were teammates at Real Madrid between 2009 to 2013.

The Argentine forward revealed his admiration for the Portugal striker as he believes Ronaldo is one of the all-time best to have played the game of football.

Higuain has however bragged about outscoring Ronaldo when the 37-year-old forward first arrived in Spain in his first season with Real Madrid Marca reports.

Lionel Messi leads star-studded 28-man Argentina squad for pre-World Cup friendlies

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that star forwards Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria were called up by Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni on Thursday for two friendlies later this month as the Copa America holders prepare for the World Cup in Qatar.

Argentina play Honduras in Miami on September 23 and Jamaica in New York four days later.

After that, they will have one more friendly, against the United Arab Emirates in Dubai on November 16, just days before the World Cup begins.
