Toni Kroos has been hailed as the best-ever German midfielder by Lothar Matthaus following his exploits with Real Madrid and the German national team.

Lothar Matthaus who is also considered as a German legend revealed the 32-year-old Real Madrid midfielder’s exploits rank him higher than other midfielders to have played for Germany.

According to Marca, Matthaus believes the number of titles won by Toni Kroos makes him number one ahead of the likes of Mesut Ozil and Michael Ballack.

“I'd say he's the best. If you look at the titles he's won, he's no.1. He won the Champions League with Bayern Munich, with Real Madrid, league titles with both, the World Cup.”

Toni Kroos won the 2014 World Cup with Germany and has also won the UEFA Champions League on 5 occasions, as well as multiple Bundesliga, Copa Del Rey and La Liga titles.

Liverpool linked with surprise move for Toni Kroos

Meanwhile, Liverpool has been linked with a sensational move for Real Madrid midfielder, Toni Kroos as the Reds try to strengthen their midfield before the transfer window shuts.

According to Paisley Gates, the Reds would be willing to offer a contract to sign Toni Kroos from the European Champions this summer.

The World Cup winning star signed his last deal with the La Liga giants back in 2019 and he earns a salary of around 14 million euros per season which equals earning £230,000 a week.

Toni Kroos makes bold prediction ahead of next season

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Toni Kroos has avowed that Real Madrid will be aiming at winning all six titles up for grabs next season.

The Los Blancos won two trophies last season - La Liga and UEFA Champions League - in addition to winning the Spanish Super Cup in January.

This season, Real Madrid will contest six competitions, including the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup and the Copa del Rey.
