Carlo Ancelotti has been voted the UEFA Coach of the Year.

The Real Madrid mentor beat out Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp to the title.

All three managers took their teams deep into the competition. City were beaten in the semi-finals while Madrid and Liverpool contested the final.

Ancelotti was the favourite to take the title above the other two managers after another successful season with Los Blancos. The announcement was made at the UEFA Champions League draw in Istanbul.

Los Blancos won the Champions League title, their 14th in their illustrious career. Madrid beat Liverpool in the final thanks to a goal from Vinicius Junior.

Ancelotti’s Madrid team also won the UEFA Super Cup, beating Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt in the final.

On the domestic front, they ran away with the La Liga title, beating their arch-rivals Barcelona by a massive 13 points.

Ancelotti thanked his family for the support they have given him and also the Real Madrid management team for trusting him with managing the club. He added that his love and passion for the game and managing quality players were the secret formula for his success.

He also had special praise for Karim Benzema and spoke about what an asset he was for the whole Real Madrid side.

Real Madrid defeated Celta Vigo 4-1 on Saturday night to maintain their winning run in the ongoing La Liga season.

Goals from Karim Benzema, Luka Modric, Vinicius Junior and Fede Valverde were enough to hand Carlo Ancelotti's men a well-deserved victory in Galicia.

The game also Ancelotti's 178th one at the helm of the Spanish giants since his first tenure with the club in 2013.
