Carlo Ancelotti has excused the performances of his Real Madrid youngsters in Los Blanco's victory against Almeria in Andalucia last weekend.

The La Liga defending champions had to dig deep to get an opening day win against a resilient Almeria side in matchday 1 as a David Alaba freekick ensured maximum points for Real Madrid.

According to Football Espana, Ancelotti, who had started Tchouameni, Camavinga, and Valverde against Almeria, admitted his youngsters struggled with the intensity of the game.

“The youngsters have played as they usually do. For what they do in training, they deserve to play.
“But on an emotional level, the game has weighed a bit on them. That is quite normal, they are very young, and the shirt weighs heavy.”

Real Madrid will be hoping to get back-to-back victories when they next host Celta Viga at the Santiago Bernabeu in matchday 2 of La Liga next weekend.

Real Madrid’s ex-defender, Carlos suffers stroke

Meanwhile, it’s not all good news at the Spanish capital as Daily Post has confirmed that former Real Madrid defender, Carlos Secretario is in intensive care after suffering a stroke.

The 52-year-old spent the 1996-97 season at Real Madrid and the Los Blancos sent him a message of support on Twitter on Sunday night.

Carlos Secretario is currently being accessed in the hospital following the latest health scare for the former Real Madrid player.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Real Madrid came from a goal down to secure a 2-1 victory over newly-promoted Almeria on the opening day.

David Alaba was the hero, scoring the clincher just seconds after coming off the bench.

Carlo Ancelotti's side trailed to an early goal by Largie Ramazani away against their newly-promoted opponents, but Lucas Vazquez equalized just after the hour mark.
