  • Real Madrid’s midfielder Federico Valverde has claimed that it is more difficult to watch his son than to mark Liverpool’s, Andrew Robertson
  • The two players clashed in the Champions League final, with the Los Blancos star coming out on top despite Liverpool’s prolonged periods of dominance
  • Valverde was one of the heroes of the night as he delivered a pinpoint cross for Vinicius Junior to score the only goal of the game

Federico Valverde aimed a subtle dig at Liverpool’s fullback Andrew Robertson in the aftermath of Real Madrid’s victory in the Champions League.

Valverde was celebrating with his son when he said that ‘it’s more difficult to watch his son than to mark Andy Robertson.’

The pair started on the same wing on opposite sides in the Saturday showdown. Robertson was part of the dominant Liverpool side that couldn’t get through an impermeable Thibaut Courtois. The Reds had everything going on for them, save for putting the ball in the back of the net.

Valverde meanwhile had an impressive game, delivering the crucial assist to the only goal of the game that was scored by Vinicius Junior. The Uruguayan was rock solid in the middle of the pack and on the flanks as Real Madrid snatched a record 14th title.

His comments might have been informed by the fact that his assist came from Andrew Robertson’s side and took out three defenders for Vinicius to tap into an empty net.

SportBibile also reports that Liverpool legend and current Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard was in awe of Valverde’s assist.

Valverde’s assist is not lucky. The pass takes three Liverpool defenders out just because of the speed and accuracy. A brilliant assist.

Eden Hazard tries to give Toni Kroos' son champagne

Real Madrid’s celebrations saw a lot of happy memories as the players enjoyed their stellar season. Sports Brief reported that Eden Hazard took Real Madrid’s celebrations overboard when he attempted to give Toni Kroos’ son champagne.

Real Madrid were in a festive mood after beating Liverpool to win their 14th Champions League title in Paris on Saturday. And as the players and members of the technical bench celebrated in the locker room, Hazard tried to give his teammate’s son champagne which Kroos immediately turned away.

There was no indication whatsoever that Kroos was angry with his teammate’s decision to give his eight-year-old son some champagne.
