  • Real Madrid could not find a spark to end the Spanish La Liga season with a victory after they were held to a draw by Real Betis
  • The Newly crowned Spanish champions started with a strong squad but failed to create any serious goal threats against Real Betis
  • Los Blancos will now turn their attention to the UEFA Champions League final next week against English Premier League side, Liverpool

Real Madrid played an underwhelming draw in their final home game of the season as they were held to a goalless draw by Real Betis.

In their earlier league encounter this season, Los Blancos managed a narrow 1-0 win at the Benito Villamarin, thanks to a Dani Carvajal goal but failed to find the back of the net at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team had been crowned champions of the Spanish La Liga weeks prior to their final home game and were therefore under no pressure to perform under an expectant crowd at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Betis continued their impressive record against Real Madrid as they extended their record of not conceding at the Bernabeu for the sixth year in a row.

How it happened at the Santiago Bernabeu

Carlo Ancelotti had fielded a strong starting line-up against Betis with Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo starting upfront for Real Madrid.

The first chance of the game fell to Karim Benzema in the 8th minute but the French striker saw his effort well blocked b the Betis defense.

The away side responded in the 15th minute as Guido Rodriguez has a go from distance, but his deflected effort is straight at Courtois.

Ancelotti made a double substitution at the break by substituting Casemiro and Kroos for Camavinga and Valverde but to no avail for the Spanish champions.

The Best chance of the game fell to Benzema in the 51st minute, but Rui Silva made an excellent save to deny the league’s top scorer and Rodrygo failed to capitalize on the rebound.

The game will however end goalless, leaving Real Madrid with 86 points from 38 games played this season.

What next for Real Madrid

Real Madrid will shift their focus now to the final of the UEFA Champions League next weekend against Liverpool.

Los Blancos will be aiming to win their second major trophy of the season when they play the English Premier League side in the final slated for Paris on Saturday, May 28.

Ancelotti asks Real Madrid fans to give Gareth Bale a perfect sendoff

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Carlo Ancelloti has rallied Real Madrid fans to give Gareth Bale a befitting send-off.

Bale will be leaving the club at the end of the season on a free transfer. The Welshman has enjoyed a highly successful but tumultuous period during his nine-year stay at Real Madrid.

He has won four Champions League titles and three La Liga trophies with the Spanish giants.
