  • Former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero thinks that Real Madrid are better placed to win the Champions League final when they face Liverpool later this month
  • Aguero believes that Real Madrid’s rich history will play into their hand as they chase a record 14th title
  • Both Liverpool and Real Madrid are enjoying spectacular seasons as they prepare to face off in Paris

Sergio Aguero has stated that Real Madrid have better chances of beating Liverpool in the Champions League final. The former Manchester City striker took early sides ahead of the May 28th showdown in Paris.

Aguero believes that Madrid’s vast experience in the competition, gives them an upper hand. The Los Blancos have won the Champions League a record 13 times while Liverpool will be looking for their seventh title this year.

The Argentine striker, as quoted by Sportskeeda, said

It’s going to be difficult, but I think Madrid has better chances. Madrid have more experience in finals and because of how they have reached the final I think they have more chances.

The celebrated striker watched with the rest of the football world as Real Madrid completed a historic comeback on his former club in the semifinals. City were set to make it to back to back finals, but a late Rodrygo Goes brace forced the game into extra time.

Karim Benzema struck a penalty in extra time to win the game for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. Aguero retired after being diagnosed with a heart disorder. He was part of City’s team that lost the Champions League final last year to Chelsea.

He becomes the latest person to weigh in on arguably the biggest stage of this season. The two sides met in the 2018 final in Kyiv where Madrid won 3-1. Gareth Bale came off the bench to win the title for the newly-crowned La Liga champions.

Liverpool have already bagged two trophies this season by winning the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. They are also separated by just a single point from Manchester City as the game heads into the final matchday this weekend.

Manchester City unveil huge statute to honour Aguero

Sports Brief earlier reported that Manchester City unveiled a giant and adorable statue of former player Sergio Aguero who was forced to quit football due to health issues.

During his active playing days in the Premier League with Manchester City, Sergio Aguero was one of the best strikers in England, considering his goals and styles of play.

And at the Etihad Stadium, Sergio Aguero won five Premier League titles at Manchester City before he moved to Spanish giants Barcelona when the ongoing season was about to start.
