President of the European Football Association (UEFA), Aleksander Ceferin has criticized Real Madrid's 'weak defence' ahead of this season's Champions League finals.

This season's grand finale will be contested between two of Europe's powerhouse clubs - Real Madrid and Liverpool.

Madrid, record holders of Europe's premier club competition, shipped in 11 goals from the round-of-16 stage en route to the finals and Aleksander Ceferin believes could be their Achilles' heel.

Sharing his opinion ahead of the finals slated for May 28 at the Stade de France, Ceferin expressed his surprise at Madrid's great escape against Manchester City in the semifinals.

“I doubted that Real Madrid could eliminate Manchester City in the semi-final, especially after they lost the first game,” he told portal 24ur.com as quoted by Football Espana.

Despite crediting the reigning Spanish champions Aleksander Ceferin was quick to point out the club's weak spot, which needs to be addressed before the finals.

“But obviously they have nine lives like cats. They’re an experienced team, but in my opinion, their defence is weak.

The last time the two sides met was back in 2018 when Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 in Kyiv to annex their 13th continental crown.
