Going into the return leg against Manchester City at the Bernabeu, Real Madrid knew that they must win convincingly for them to reach the final of the Champions League.

How did it go at the Santiago Bernabeu?

Manchester City won the first leg at the Etihad stadium 4-3, and surprisingly, they took the lead in Spain in the 73rd minute when Riyad Mahrez scored.

Fans of the Premier League champions thought their players would go through after netting, but Rodrygo scored two goals at the death to take the match into extra time.

And at extra time, Karim Benzema scored the winner.

Toni Kroos taunts Manchester City after Real Madrid’s enthralling comeback win against the Citizens

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Toni Kroos is still in jubilant mode after helping Real Madrid qualify for this year’s UEFA Champions League final at the expense of Manchester City.

The German midfielder was instrumental for the Galacticos as they overturned a first-leg 4-3 defeat against Pep Guardiola’s team to earn a 6-5 aggregate win at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The former Bayern Munich star posted four laughing face emojis on his social media handle after the referee blew the final whistle.

The tweet obviously has angered fans of Manchester City who saw their team blow away a good chance to qualify for a consecutive UEFA Champions League final.

Real Madrid will now aim to win a record-extending 14th Champions League crown when they tackle Liverpool in the final of Europe’s most prestigious club competition.
