Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was reduced to tears after watching his side stage an epic comeback win over Man City to book a place in the Champions League final.

Madrid secured their ticket for the penultimate stage of the European competition after sinking City 3-1 in the second leg of their semi-final fixture played at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Wednesday night, May 4, tie was finely poised after the first leg ended in a 4-3 win for City at the Etihad Stadium.

Karim Benzema was the match hero for Los Blancos at the time as he netted a spectacular penalty in the closing stages to keep his side in the tie.

With City carrying a one-goal advantage to Madrid, Riyad Mahrez added another one to the basket as he broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute of the clash.

With just a few minutes left on the clock, the Citizens looked on course to reach another final in the competition.

However, Real netted three quickfire goals in the 90th, 91st, and 90+5 minutes to eliminate City on a 6-5 goal aggregate.

Rodrygo and Benzema were both on target for Madrid, with the former netting an incredible brace.

Carlo Ancelotti emotional after Real Madrid win

After the match, The Sun reports an emotional Ancelotti burst into tears as he turned to hug his son and Real assistant, Davide.

Cameras at the Santiago Bernabeu caught the two in the heartwarming moment, with Ancelotti seen crying into his son's arms.

Having helped Real lift the La Liga title, Ancelotti will be desperate to inspire his side to European glory when they play Liverpool in the final.
