Nigerian international Raphael Onyedika is reportedly heading for the exit door at Club Brugge ahead of the summer transfer window, with the 25-year-old having put contract renewal discussions on hold as he seeks a move to a more competitive league.

According to Belgian football reporter Valerie Van Avermaet of Het Nieuwsblad, the Super Eagles midfielder is considered a near-certain departure from the Belgian champions. Van Avermaet described the move as happening “with almost certainty,” reflecting a growing consensus within Belgian football circles that Onyedika’s time at Club Brugge is drawing to a close.

Despite Club Brugge having worked for some time to persuade the central midfielder to commit to a new deal, those efforts have so far proven unsuccessful. Onyedika still has over a year remaining on his current contract, which runs until June 2027, but his ambitions appear to lie elsewhere. “Quoting a fee remains difficult and depends on the market, but it’s clear that Club Brugge won’t let him go for less than €15 million and is aiming for the top price,” Het Laatste Nieuws reported.

Onyedika’s profile has attracted considerable attention across Europe throughout the 2025/26 season, with his name reportedly appearing on scouting lists at several clubs in larger leagues. The specific identities of those interested parties have not been confirmed, but sources suggest interest is widespread.

On the domestic front, Onyedika made 22 league appearances for Club Brugge this season. He was also a key figure for Nigeria at AFCON 2025, where the Super Eagles finished third in the tournament.

Club Brugge appear to have begun preparing for life without the midfielder. The Belgian side signed Ludovit Reis from Hamburger SV last summer, while Aleksandar Stankovic is also considered to possess the technical profile required to fill a similar role in midfield.

Onyedika joined Club Brugge from FC Midtjylland in 2022 and quickly established himself as one of the most technically accomplished midfielders in the Belgian Pro League. His performances helped Club Brugge remain competitive on both domestic and European fronts, and his departure would represent a notable loss of quality in their engine room.

With the summer transfer window approaching, Club Brugge face the challenge of securing an acceptable fee for a player who, while contracted until mid-2027, has made clear his intention to move on. The €15 million floor price set by the club reflects both his market value and the leverage the Belgian side retains through his remaining contract length. Whether that asking price will be met, and by which club, remains to be seen as the market develops in the coming weeks.
