Argentinian goalkeeper Edgar Bardia was stunned when legendary Lionel Messi requested for his shirt in return after Barcelona recorded a 3-0 win over Elche in the La Liga.

Lionel Messi scored a brace and one of which was his trademark goal as Jordi Alba put the cherry on the cake.

The three points mean Barcelona are still in contention for the La Liga title this season as they are just five points behind league leaders Atletico Madrid.

Immediately after the final whistle against Elche, goalkeeper Badia rushed towards Messi to ask for his icon’s jersey.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner agreed to the request and then asked Badia's for his in return.

The win was Barcelona's first in two matches after their 4-1 thumping by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last week was followed up by a disappointing La Liga draw against Cadiz.

They next face two games against high-flying Sevilla, first in the league and then in the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final.

Lionel Messi and his eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo have both been voted by fans in the Champions League greatest XI of all-time.

UK outlet BBC shortlisted players who made more than 60 appearances in the competition and have featured in at least one final.

Fans were allowed to vote for their best players in each position to make up a 4-3-3 formation. Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon edged Iker Casillas into second place while Edwin van der Sar came third in the goalkeeping position

Joining Messi and Ronaldo in the trident attack force is Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, who narrowly edged his place in the team.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has been named as the best Brazilian player by Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku who gave his response to a fan during a question and answer session on Twitter.

On a serious note, Neymar is one of the best forwards in the world considering his performances so far since he started his football career in his country, Brazil.

Over the years, Brazil as a nation has produced lots of players who have made names in the game of football with their brilliant performances.
