Paris Saint-Germain skipper Neymar was conspicuously missing when his teammate, Kylian Mbappe, was picking his awards in Paris.

The Brazil international was expected to grace the prestigious Union National des Footballers Professionnels (UNFP) awards ceremony.

Mbappe went on to pick the Ligue 1 player of the season and young player of the season awards, with Neymar featuring in the Team of the Year despite his absence.

Angel Di Maria, Marco Verratti, Thiago Silva and Mbappe also made the Team of the Year list.

On his part, Neymar went to hang out with American popstar, Rihanna, who was in Paris to promote her new luxury fashion brand.

The 27-year-old former Barcelona star took to Instagram to share a photo of him alongside the Rude Boy hitmaker with the caption: "Queen and powerful woman."

However, the post did not go down well with a section of fans who called out Neymar for skipping Mbappe's awards' bash.

One user wrote, "Can't say I'm surprised!"
Another posted: "He seemed more level-headed when playing for Barça. Focuses more on marketing and partying than football these days."
A third argued: "All that talent wasted. Always in a party. He doesn't care about football, his team, his teammates. It is a shame."
