  • Zmijak is unsure whether he should tackle Mbappe when PSG and Pays de Cassel meet in the French Cup

Alexis Zmijak is stuck between a rock and a hard place.

The Pays de Cassel defender is a Paris Saint-Germain Ultra, but will have to play against the French giants in the next round of the French Cup.

What is an Ultra?

As noted by Wikipedia, Ultras are a type of football fan known for their fanatical support. Ultras are seen as hardcore fans, with many groups consisting of a large crowd of passionate fans who use flares at stadiums and always attend games with a host of banners.

The idea of Ultras are to attempt to intimidate the opposing fans while supporting your own.

As a PSG Ultra who now has to play against the team he supports, Zmijak isn't sure how to deal with Mbappe, Goal reported.

“If Mbappe goes through on goal, do I tackle him or not? Do I say to myself: ‘Wait, he has to play Bayern Munich in the Champions League soon,' Zmijak joked.

The defender added that his side had no stress going into the game as they had nothing to lose.

Pays de Cassel competes in the sixth tier of French football, while PSG are the defending Ligue 1 champions.

"It's the meeting of a lifetime for us. And for me, personally, it's great to find myself in this situation," Zmijak added.

The defender's main concern going into the game is that he doesn't injure any of the superstars that he so passionately supports.

The two sides will face off today (January 23) at 9:45 PM CAT.

PSG's defensive frailties?

Paris Saint-Germain's UEFA Champions League dream is in jeopardy, according to former French midfielder Jean-Michel Larque.

He argues that the trio's lack of defensive output renders the team imbalanced which could derail their continental ambitions.

Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi have formed a lethal partnership with head coach Christophe Galtier describing them as the 'Holy Grail', Sports Brief previously reported.
