Paris Saint-Germain have reached a verbal agreement with World Cup winner Lionel Messi to extend his contract with the French champions.

Messi earlier stated he will only sit at the negotiation table after the World Cup appears to have swiftly decided his future amid links to Inter Miami.

The 35-year-old eventually emerged as the Golden Ball winner after inspiring Argentina to their third World Cup title and will crown it with a contract extension.

He signed a two-year deal - which ends next summer - with the Parisians after ending his over two decade association with Barcelona, per Eurosport.

According to transfer market specialist, Fabrizio Romano, the deal is a verbal pact between the two parties to continue together.

He further added, no decision yet on the length of the contract & salary, it will be decided in a new meeting soon.
