Lionel Messi has been spotted reacting in an emotional way after seeing former teammate Sergio Aguero in Qatar after Argentina's win over Croatia at the World Cup.

The Paris Saint-Germain star was impressive on Tuesday night, 13 December, as he scored the first goal in his nation's 3-0 win over the Croats in the semi-final.

The former Barcelona captain will now be playing in the second World Cup final of his career with the hopes that he can succeed this time around in Qatar.

Messi was named as the player of the match in Argentina's tie against Croatia and Aguero waited for him at the podium to present the award.

The two Argentines were happy to reunite in Qatar.

Aguero was forced to retire from football based on health ground, but the former Manchester City striker is still connected around soccer circle.

Lionel Messi makes statement

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Paris Saint-Germain Lionel Messi rated his chances of playing the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar.

Messi has been one of the standout players at the tournament, with the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner netting five goals so far.

His incredible run of form has been pivotal in Argentina's campaign in tournament, having already booked a spot in the final.

The star forward scored once and set up another on Tuesday, December 13, as La Albiceleste silenced Croatia 3-0 to qualify for the final round.

Argentina's comfortable victory was clouded with an injury scare, with Messi spotted holding his hamstring at one point.

However, the 35-year-old has come out to allay fears on his fitness, revealing he will be ready for the final.

Speaking after the Croatia clash, the Barcelona icon insisted that he is 'feeling strong' to play every match.

Messi offers award to teammate

Sports Brief also reported how humble Lionel Messi admitted he would give his Man of the Match award against Croatia to his Argentina teammate Julian Alvarez.

Messi was in impeccable form during the World Cup semi-final cracker as he scored once and assisted another as Argentina demolished Croatia 3-0 to reach the final of the tournament.

The Paris Saint-Germain ace scored the opener in the 34th minute from the penalty spot before he set up Alvarez for the second five minutes later.
