Football fans were stunned when news broke that the Paris Saint-Germain attacker was reportedly close to agreeing on a deal with Inter Miami.

The news has caught the attention of WWE commentator, Pat McAfee, who reacted to the potential move, Essentially Sports reported. . The former NFL star took to Twitter saying, “It’s our sport now.”

Messi moving to the MLS would be a major coup for the sport in the United States of America, as the Argentinian star would become the highest-paid player in the MLS.

America eyeing soccer success

McAfee’s comments also come on the back of the recent game between England and the USA. The game was described as a battle between football and soccer. With the game ending in a stalemate, USA fans mocked the English over their performance.

McAfee predicts World Cup win

McAfee also boldly predicted that the USA would win the whole tournament. The Americans have drawn with Wales and England and will need to beat Iran if they are to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition in Qatar.

Messi’s representative denies claims

While McAfee may be dreaming of Messi in the MLS, the player’s representative has shot down the rumours, Goal reported. Marcelo Mendez described the transfer news as fake, saying that Messi would not be leaving Europe just yet.

According to a representative of the Argentinian player, Messi will not be heading to Major League Soccer (MLS) just yet.

News broke recently that the Paris Saint-Germain attacker was close to agreeing on a deal, that would have seen him head to the United States of America next season.

Messi close to Miami deal

Lionel Messi is close to agreeing on a deal with Inter Miami. The deal would see him become the highest-ever paid player in the MLS, Sports Brief reported.

Messi, who is currently in Qatar for World Cup duty with Argentina, will be a free agent at the end of the season when his two-year Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain contract ends.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner has a home in Miami and if reports are to be believed, could be open to seeing out the remainder of his illustrious career in the United States of America.
