  • Neymar has arrived in Italy to join the Brazil team camp in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar
  • The former Barcelona star and the rest of his teammates are aiming to win their sixth World Cup in Qatar
  • The five-time champions play their Group G matches against Serbia, Cameroon and Switzerland

Neymar Junior has joined the rest of his Brazil teammates in Italy as the 2002 World champions begin preparations for the World Cup.

The 30-year-old and his Paris Saint-Germain teammate Marquinhos arrived late for the first day on Monday due to problems with their flight from Paris to Turin.

The 26-man squad will hold a five-day camp at the Juventus training facility before flying to Doha.

Neymar will be hoping to lead the Selecao to their sixth World Cup title in the Middle East, having already won the tournament five times.

The South American giants are competing in Group G at the 2022 World Cup against Cameroon, Serbia and Switzerland respectively.

As reported by Sportskeeda, Neymar was recently asked how many goals he expected to score during the World Cup, to which he replied, 'at least 5.’

Neymar's previous World Cup goals

In 2018, Neymar only managed to score two goals as Brazil were dumped out in the tournament's quarter-final stage. He also notched up one assist.

At the 2014 World Cup, he scored four goals and grabbed one assist before he was injured in the quarter final. A Neymar-less Brazil was then hammered 7-1 in the now infamous semi-final against Germany.

Neymar's son reacts to inclusion

Neymar's son was his biggest cheerleader during the announcement of Brazil's final squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

Sports Brief reported that the Paris Saint-Germain forward and his son watched the presentation of the World Cup team together at their base in France.

In a video posted on social media, the footballer's son appears to give his father a fist bump in a show of excitement, following the PSG star's inclusion in the Brazil squad.
