As reported by Sportskeeda, Neymar was recently asked how many goals he expected to score during the World Cup, to which he replied, 'at least 5.’

In 2018, Neymar only managed to score two goals as Brazil were dumped out in the tournament's quarter-final stage. He also notched up one assist.

At the 2014 World Cup, he scored four goals and grabbed one assist before he was injured in the quarter-final. A Neymar-less Brazil were then hammered 7-1 in the now infamous semi-final against Germany.

A career-threatening injury

Neymar’s injury in 2014 didn’t only ruin Brazil’s chances, it almost cost the player his career.

He was injured after Colombia’s Juan Zuniga collided with him. The Brazilian was hit with a knee to his back and had to be taken off.

Neymar explained that doctors told him if the blow was just 2cm to the side, his career would have been over, SportBible reported.

Neymar has been in fine form for PSG so far this season. He’s scored 15 goals in just 19 games and provided 12 assists, and Brazilian fans will hope he takes that form into the World Cup.

Neymar's son reacts to inclusion

Neymar's son was his biggest cheerleader during the announcement of Brazil's final squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

Sports Brief reported that the Paris Saint-Germain forward and his son watched the presentation of the World Cup team together at their base in France.

In a video posted on social media, the footballer's son appears to give his father a fist bump in a show of excitement, following the PSG star's inclusion in the Brazil squad.
