This would suggest the Frenchman had penned a three-year deal with PSG, but this is not the whole story, according to L'Equipe.

The French outlet reports that the three-year deal is actually a two-year contract, with the option to extend by a further year.

As per the contract, only Mbappe will have the power to trigger an extension and PSG would need his content come 2024.

In the wake of the new contract, it was also widely reported that Mbappe would have 'complete control' of the club's sporting project.

Mbappe this season

Despite alleged tension with his teammate Neymar, Mbappe has made an excellent start to the league season.

He has so far scored seven times in the league, and was also on target twice as PSG began their Champions League campaign with a win over Juventus last week.

Christophe Galtier, the PSG boss, has, however quelled talks of a rift between the pair.

"The relationship between Kylian and Ney is good and I’m not waffling here," Galtier said recently as quoted by EuroSport.
"Having spoken with Kylian, who I think spoke about it with Neymar... they’re together in training exercises, they’re often together in the warm-ups."

Mbappe tops FIFA 23 rankings

Elsewhere, EA Sports has released the top 23 players on FIFA 23, which will be launched on September 30.

The new edition is set to be launched officially at the end of the month with Kylian Mbappe and Chelsea Women's star Samatha Kerr as the cover art.

Lionel Messi remains the top-rated player with an overall rating of 91. He has, however, been joined by his PSG teammate Mbappe, Ballon d'Or favourite Karim Benzema and Barcelona's hitman, formerly with Bayern Munich, Robert Lewandowski. Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne is also rated at 91.
